Susanne Nyaga is an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Consultant. She works directly with small and medium-sized organizations seeking support to improve their equity, diversity and inclusion policies, practices and knowledge. Her services include anti-oppression/anti-racism training, conflict mediation, keynote addresses and EDI initiative implementation support.
Susanne has an expertise in anti-oppressive theory & practice, anti-racism approaches, critical race theory, intersectionality, queer theory, feminist theory & approaches, and many more. She is dedicated to elevating the voices of those who fall within the margins of society. Susanne has dedicated over six years to working with equity-seeking communities. Her ability to jump in and support the frontline work, while also thinking strategically about macro system design, works to set up the spaces she touches for success.
Susanne completed her Bachelor of Social Work degree at Ryerson University where she spent time studying how oppression manifests itself in today’s institutions, and how to implement effective micro, mezzo and macro initiatives. She later went on to complete her Master of Social Work degree at Howard University where she studied all aspects of program design, implementation and evaluation, all from a critical race perspective.
Equity, diversity and inclusion conversations have never been easy ones to maneuver. Susanne is dedicated to building brave spaces where we can tackle and explore some of those hard conversations, so we can create space for informed inclusive practice. She believes that we all have room to grow and we simply just need access to the tools and resources to do so.
